Do you enjoy actively searching for ways to help others, identifying complex problems and solving them? This blog will enlighten you on training/education as well as the requirements and advantages/ disadvantages that make a good nutritionist, as well as related jobs. After reading you will ether feel, yes this is what I want to do, or no this is not what I thought it would be.
First thing first, knowing that a (RD) Registered Dietitian and a (CNS) Certified Nutritional Specialist are used as the same but, the level of training between both, makes them two distinctly different credentials. A Dietitians organize food and nutrition plan and promote healthy eating habits to prevent and treat illness. While nutrition is a science that investigates the metabolic and physiological responses of the body to food and diet and the role of nutrients in the cause, treatment, and prevention of disease.
More skills that are needed is having a non-judgmental attitude towards others background and lifestyle. Having high energy to motivate and inspire those that do not have the inner self to believe. An interest in knowledge of the scientific aspects of food. Being interested in health and wellbeing. The ability to explain complex ideas in a simply form, for individuals that do not have the knowledge.
According to Lucy Sayers a nutrition specialist “To become a nutritionist it is required that you study nutrition, science or applied science with a major in nutrition. Most universities in Australian offer this course although ATARS do vary. It is an option for the course to be done externally at some Universities, although because Nutrition is a career that involves practical knowledge, most will request an element of the degree be done on campus. Traveling interstate to complete a degree is something that many applicants choose to do, due to the fact that some larger universities can offer courses with greater qualifications and employment opportunities”

Are the group of people that you’re aiming to assist in your work career in nursing homes, trying to maintain good health to be strong or maybe even hospitals, battling sickness from the lack of proper eating. Could even be clinics with the youth, teaching their minds while still young, maybe even thought of cafeterias, the state or local government. Your daily plan is to advise people on what to eat in order to lead a healthy lifestyle or achieve a specific health- related goal. In 2016 68,000 dietitians and nutritionists held jobs. Largest employers was the following Self-employed workers was at 6%, nursing and residential care facilities 9%/ Outpatient care centers 10%, while government was at 14%. Hospitals, state, local, and private was at top with 30%. 1 out of 4 of them worked part-time while the rest worked full-time.
According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics “In May 2016, the median annual wages for dietitians and nutritionists in the top industries in which they worked were as follows. Outpatient care centers $64,880. Hospitals; state, local, and private $59,350. Nursing and residential care facilities $57,330. Government $56,230. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $36,470, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $82,410. The median annual wage for dietitians and nutritionists was $58,920.”
Employment is projected to grow 15 percent from 2016 to 2026, to be said to grow much faster than the average for all occupations. I believe that to be true for the fact, as I look around me on a daily people do not care at the moment to what they eat until someone like their doctor or friend mention to them that they need to change their eating habits if they would like to continue a happy healthy lifestyle. Plus all the fat food and process food is in high demand now. According to the Centers for Disease control, more than one-third of U.S adults are obese!

How you feel 10 years from now can all start with what you are eating on a daily now. In this next upcoming blog post I will give you direct insight on a newsworthy article that helps get a better understanding on the purpose of promoting healthy habits. As well as I give you a description on the My Plate and why it was changed from the food pyramid.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste, so how should you feel about your body? Nutrition is the processes by which food enters and is utilized by the body. That includes protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins minerals, and water. Long term effects on having a regular nutrition plan is, it helps prevent obesity and disease. Poor nutrition in the time of growing and developing can cause growth and developmental problems and long-term complication with obesity, heart disease, and osteoporosis. Which is where the bones becomes brittle and fragile.
As of 2013, the CDC reported that American adolescents only consumed only one serving of fruit and 1.3 servings of vegetables each day. Serving are equal to one-half cup, and the U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA) recommends children and adolescents eat 1-3 cups of vegetable and 1-2 cups of fruits, based on age and gender. Many fall very short of the recommendations. (The Gale Encyclopedia of Children's Health: Infancy through Adolescence)
The fact that the human body absorbed different nutrients from different food, having a good nutrition plan is a key part. As well as working out on a good basic. The major change with the USDA MyPlate from the Pyramid, includes serving size adjustments. A big problem with maintaining good nutrition is failing to meet daily nutrition recommendations. The source mentions that Americans do not eat enough fruits and vegetables and east to much prepackaged and processed foods. With many statistics and studies to prove that as well.  The overall point I take that they are trying to make with the change is. Less soda and juice, more water or low fat milk. More fruits and vegetables, grains and protein are still a yes, just not over flowing your plat where it takes up more than the vegetables and fruits.

Branching off with related jobs in this career would fall with almost anything in the Health Science cluster. If it’s Nursing, Surgeons, MRI Technologists, Chiropractors, even Veterinarians. They all have common courses of lessons that would needed to be taken. On the website https://www.wois.org/use/careers/viewer.cfm?occnum=100062#wgWOIS The Career Information System there is a section that states “According to the Washington State Employment Security Department, there will be 369 annual openings for Dietitians and Nutritionists in Washington between 2015 and 2025.”

When food is life, you expect to feel that way even after eating. Not that after feeling of having a Fast Food daily diet. I’m 21, born and raised in the luscious greenery Seattle, WA and truly care about looking good and feeling my best. When they say “You are what you eat” I don’t think there is many more statements that come close to being right on point. I grew up where my parents felt that food is supposed to be eaten, not to be wasted or just looked at lol. So being shy with eating was not in me. But being picky and choosy when it came to what I eat, oh yeah, now that was me!
Follow me to learn the job duties and skills needed in the work setting as I go on a job shadow to see a daily in and out of someone in the field of nutrition. As well as an interview of questions that I will ask. If there is a question that you are liking to be in lighted on, please do leave it in the comments and I will most definitely ask it for you. I will then post a video later for you to watch on how that went, and the knowledge I gained from an expert that has the same fire passion about wanting more people to be aware of food benefits to the body, mind, and spirit.

Staying toned to my blog will introduce you to everyday foods to add or minimize to your daily meals. The long term and short term feelings of how your body and brains reacts to the different foods that you intake. Don’t look at it as eating right to be healthy, you have to find the inner you that is going to be thankful for the past you. Your future you will be satisfied !
